Decortication n. - The act of removing the bark from a tree and/or the cortext from the brain. Save for the uninflected mutterings of a few xylotomists, this word only lives in simulated violence, particularly in the real of those videogames that call upon players to dispatch their opponents via the utilization of precise sniping ability (head-shots) and/or ninja skills.

Oubliette n. – French 14th C. 1. (a) A dungeon with a trapdoor in the ceiling as its only means of entrance or exit. (b) A presumed form of dungeon that was accessible only from a hatch in a high ceiling. To exit an oubliette without outside help was impossible under any circumstances. The word comes from the French oublier, "to forget," as it was used for prisoners whom the state or the authority forced to disappear. (c) Secret dungeon with a pit below the entrance. 2. A small French obelisk. Most of these were built by Napoleon as a result of his fascination with the Egyptian and Roman empires. They have now all been, like the dodo, hunted into extinction - although only the bird’s disappearance has earned the title ‘extinct’. 3. A female dancer with an unusually small hippocampus who is excited about one or more things, but has forgotten the reasons for her excitement.
